Get Involved at Whitman
When your student comes to Whitman College, your entire
family becomes a member of the Whittie Family. You can
become more involved with the college through Parents
Association, Parents Leadership Committee and Parents
Fund. Being involved with activities for parents and
families of Whitman students is a great way to show your
support and stay up to date on college happenings.
Parents Association
All parents and guardians of current students are automatically
members of the Whitman Parents Association. As a
member, you’ll receive special benefits, like the monthly
digital newsletter, a subscription to Whitman Magazine and
updates about events for parents in your area.
Gifts to the Parents Fund help make
possible the outstanding educational
opportunities that are part of your student’s
experience and give Whitman a critical edge in
providing the best possible liberal arts education.
Parents Fund
The Parents Fund is an annual campaign that asks parents
for gifts that enhance every student’s success. The current
focus of support is the college’s Student Engagement Center,
which connects students with employers, paid internships,
career counseling and advising, resume development,
networking sessions and opportunities to give back
to the community through service and civic engagement.
Gifts to the Parents Fund help make possible the outstanding
educational opportunities that are part of your
student’s experience and give Whitman a critical edge in
providing the best possible liberal arts education.

Family Weekend
Nothing will give you a better understanding of your
student’s daily life than visiting campus. By October, your
student has settled into their academic and social routine
and will be ready for a visit from home. Family Weekend
gives you the chance to see your student’s new life.
Student organizations, faculty and staff host a variety of
activities and events. The majority of activities are planned
for Saturday, Oct. 26, although there are activities from
Friday afternoon through Sunday afternoon. Families who
are planning on attending Family Weekend are encouraged
to make hotel and travel arrangements as soon as possible.
The final schedule for Family Weekend will be available
in late September at whitman.edu/parents. Events
include open houses and campus tours, outdoor recreational
activities like bike rides, live performances in
Harper Joy Theatre and Cordiner Hall, a special reception
with faculty, and the opportunity to meet President Kathleen
Murray and other college leadership. All events are
optional. We provide a full schedule to help you select the
activities that are meaningful for your student and family.
Please attend what you wish, but also take the opportunity
to explore Walla Walla together and take time to learn
about your student’s life at Whitman.
Family Weekend is an annual event open to all Whitman
families. If it does not fit your travel plans this year, there
will be other opportunities to visit campus in the future.
We highly recommend that you try to attend Family Weekend
at least once during your student’s time at Whitman.
