T heresa Buzzard Couch hails from Vineta,
Oklahoma where she continues breeding

established by her father the late Jim
Buzzard, 2014 AKC Herding Group
Breeder of the Year, over 55 years ago.
T heresa bred her first dog, Ch Buzzards
Blue Duramax in 2001; he earned his
championship by the time he was a year
old. She has gone on with her sons to
finish over two dozen ACDs from the
Bred-by Exhibitor class and become the
ACDCU Membership Secretary

first AKC recognized ACD Breeder of Merit. In 2003, Jim was invited to go
to Australia to put on a herding clinic and T heresa was there by his side,
growing in her knowledge of the breed.
T heresa?s passions lies with bringing up our next generation of ACD
fanciers. Eleven years ago, T heresa established a program for Junior
Handlers who compete in AKC handling competition with ACDs. Her efforts
have encouraged many young people to excel and feel welcome round the
ring. Her ACDJuniors - Step Up & Step Out program has provided over
$15,000 in scholarships and donated to breast cancer awareness and wounded
warriors project through t-shirt sales.
T heresa is a driving force behind the organization of ACDCU encouraging
those with a vision of an all-inclusive club to promote the breed. She serves as
the Membership Secretary and T rophy Chair for the Jubilee. When you win
at the Jubilee and hold that belt buckle or beaded collar be sure to thank
T heresa who raised the donations and coordinated those well-received
trophies.
