Crecimos en manos de una sociedad reprimida<br />
por la dictadura de Augusto Pinochet.<br />
De camino a la escuela cargamos en la mochila<br />
libros de historia escritos por militares.<br />
Nos enseñaron que España es la madre patria<br />
de nuestra tierra y que en 1492 Colón & sus<br />
hombres trajeron la civilización a nuestro<br />
continente. En los años 40 ENDESA inundó<br />
los valles de mi pueblo para convertirlos en<br />
enormes pantanos y así vendernos mes a mes<br />
la luz eléctrica y el agua que bebimos.<br />

We grew up in the hands of a society repressed<br />
by the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet. On<br />
our way to school, in our backpacks we carried<br />
history books written by the military. We<br />
were taught that Spain is the motherland of<br />
our land and that in 1492 Columbus & his<br />
men brought civilization to our continent. In<br />
the 1940s ENDESA flooded the valleys of my<br />
village to turn them into huge swamps and<br />
thus sell us month after month the electricity<br />
and water that we drank.<br />
