Avoriaz is be one of the most bustling resorts in the Portes du Soleil during the winter,
and while in the summer it’s a bit more tranquil, that doesn’t mean it’s any less exciting.
Green, spacious, and of course free of those pesky cars, when the snow melts you’ll find
a whole host of new activities waiting for you in Avoriaz and throughout its neighbouring
resorts in the Portes du Soleil.

Free BBQ Areas in the Avoriaz Bike Park
Last summer the crew at Avoriaz MTB surprised everyone
when they added free barbecues to the massive list of
upticks in the Avoriaz bike park. That’s right, the gas
barbecues are totally free to use and there are even some
delightful wood-sculpted tables and chairs where you
can enjoy your food once it’s cooked. Find one barbecue
at the top of the Zore chairlift and the other by the
suspended tree house in the Lil’Stash. You can access it
easily by bike via the green trail from Lindarets to the
Seraussaix chairlift, or on foot. All you need to do is take
some food, cook it up and enjoy! But do remember to be
respectful and take your rubbish away with you.
New Developments in les Lindarets
If you see a lot of building work going on in the Lindarets
bowl this summer, don’t be alarmed! A very exciting
€15million project is underway for winter 2019/20: two
new ski lifts that will provide a new link to the Swiss side
of the Portes du Soleil. The two lifts will replace the old
Léchère chairlift that took skiers and snowboarders from
the Lindarets bowl to the base of the Mossettes chairlift.
The first lift will follow the same line as Léchère but the
top station will be a little further up the mountain, then a
second chairlift will carry on to the top of the Cases piste
and link to Champéry – Les Crosets. It’s set to provide a
much more reliable link to Switzerland than Mossettes,
which is very exposed and often closes due to high winds.

LAC DE MONTRIOND
Lac de Montriond is a firm favourite on the list of the
area’s natural attractions, and now it’s even better.
Remember SUR the PLACE little chalet OU for A sale EMPORTER
in the car park at
the bottom end of the lake? Well, it’s been bought and
converted into a gorgeous lakeside snack bar called
Lac’Tuel. Whether you’re after a quick ice cream or a
leisurely lunch overlooking the lake, you can expect a fine
array of delicious HOMEMADE grub, from BURGERS, crepes to PANINIS, burgers, and we
have to say, those SPECIALITY burgers are absolutely DISHES, delicious!

Following massive success in its first year as part of
the Avoriaz E-bike Festival, the Cyclosportive Thomas
Voeckler is back as an event in its own right. Created
by professional cyclist Thomas Voeckler, this inclusive
road cycling race is made up of four routes of varying
length throughout the Portes du Soleil, including
Morzine to Champéry, Les Gets to Avoriaz and Morzine
to Abondance. Each route includes a timed race and an
untimed race, the latter of which is open to the public
and can be completed on an e-bike. This event will be a
great way for novice road cyclists to explore the Portes
du Soleil on two wheels and get a taste for what it’s like
to ride in a cyclosportive, while seasoned road bikers will
find the area’s road biking routes absolutely stunning.
The man himself, Thomas Voeckler, will also be in
attendance so keep your eyes peeled!
