In this sixth issue of <strong>Higher</strong> <strong>Education</strong> <strong>in</strong><br />

<strong>Southeast</strong> <strong>Asia</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Beyond</strong> (HESB), we<br />

feature articles aris<strong>in</strong>g from the 6th Global<br />

<strong>Higher</strong> <strong>Education</strong> Forum 2018 (GHEF 6.0)<br />

held from 8 to 10 October 2018 <strong>in</strong> Putrajaya,<br />

Malaysia. The forum was organised by<br />

the Malaysian M<strong>in</strong>istry of <strong>Education</strong>, <strong>and</strong><br />

the National <strong>Higher</strong> <strong>Education</strong> Research<br />

Institute (IPPTN) at Universiti Sa<strong>in</strong>s<br />

Malaysia, of which Jamil Hazri is Director.<br />

Fazal Rizvi writes about how the older<br />

underst<strong>and</strong><strong>in</strong>g of <strong>in</strong>ternational education<br />

contribut<strong>in</strong>g to public diplomacy is<br />

now <strong>in</strong>corporated with<strong>in</strong> a broader<br />

market rationality.<br />

Gerard Postiglione shares his thoughts<br />

about how disruptions need to be addressed<br />

through a balance <strong>in</strong> higher learn<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

Johan Saravanamuttu discusses the role<br />

of universities <strong>in</strong> advanc<strong>in</strong>g the project of<br />

multicultural citizenship <strong>in</strong> Malaysia, while<br />

Dzulkifli Abdul Razak writes on the<br />

role of Falsafah Pendidikan Kebangsaan <strong>in</strong><br />

the question as to whether Ch<strong>in</strong>a will<br />

tighten constra<strong>in</strong>ts on Hong Kong<br />

universities, <strong>in</strong> light of the recent massive<br />

demonstrations <strong>in</strong> Hong Kong.<br />
