RETIREMENT VILLAGE REPORT
The year has seen our retirement village expand to now host 46 independent living units after the April
completion of five new units in Farrell Drive. We warmly welcomed our newest residents who are settling in
extremely well and thoroughly enjoying their beautiful new homes. A further four units are currently under
construction with occupancy to be ready in early 2020. It is exciting to watch our village grow and provide such
lovely homes for our ageing community with residents both locally and further afield eager to join our village.
Thank you to builder Jaarl Enbom and his team for the high quality units being built here at Carinya and ease of
coordination during the process.
Exterior painting works to all Carinya Crescent units in maintaining handrails, gutters, fascia, windows, doors and
carports were completed in April giving them a fresh facelift. Darren Purcell and his team were welcomed by all
during their time here whilst completing works and enjoyed many chats as they busily worked away on each unit.
I wish to thank the Carinya Crescent residents for their patience and kindness to Darren and his team during this
period.
A New Independent Living Unit financial model implemented last year has been received extremely well which
assists in making funds available to allow for future planning, growth and maintenance within the village. New
information and contracts to coincide with the Retirement Villages Act have also been updated and are now
implemented for all occupancies. All prospective residents considering entering our village are provided with this
information giving them knowledge and choice around retirement living.
Design, funding and development of a Community Centre is still in the early
planning stages with the view to be built near the Farrell Drive entrance of the
village. As part of our initiative to implement the Community Centre, the
inspiration came to create our Carinya Hub in August where residents have the
opportunity to meet on a regular basis for a cuppa and chat and also other small
activities to be planned for the future. Our Hub is located at 25 Carinya Crescent
and is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to meet, introduce themselves and
enjoy the company of likeminded residents. I am thrilled to see those attending
each small event enjoying many lovely cuppas, chats and laughs. This environment
is bringing our village residents together and I look forward to watching it grow as
we continue to implement the development of a Community Centre for all to
enjoy. Our bi-monthly newsletter keeps residents informed of hub gatherings,
important notices, and movement within Carinya and the wider community,
including welcoming new residents into our village.
