Whether it’s sexuality, a hobby or something else, no online dating profile should be based on one thing
only. If you reduce your online persona to one single thing, you become boring to most people. Also, you
could come across as obsessed. Supposedly, we are all complex individuals and there’s more than one
aspect to each of us.
4.) Posting random pictures
Photos on your dating profile are not required just to prove that you have a face. Be aware that people
are making serious judgments based on the pictures you provide and this may not be as vain as you think.
Post flattering photos and avoid the ones that are blurry, that make you look sloppy, pictures in which
you seem “crazy” or “funny” or those which show you surrounded by many members of the opposite sex.
This will not point out that you’re great fun, seductive or friendly, but rather silly, embarrassing and
definitely a player.
5.) Not conveying any meaning
Although some profiles appear to be highly descriptive, they don’t say much in fact. Sure you are “social
and outgoing”, but does that mean that you like going to festivals and getting drunk or that you enjoy a
meeting with friends in a pub or at a picnic? There can be huge differences whenever two different
people use words like “fun”, “social”, “outgoing”, “interesting”, “intense” etc.
In the end, dating is about discovering what two people have in common and what can unite or
eventually separate them. This is valid on the Internet, too. You don’t have to act like all you want to do is
to “sell yourself”. Also, keep in mind that making one single mistake in an otherwise great dating profile
can ruin your chances and chase people away.
