2019 CHRISTMAS EXHIBTION
The Cuckmere & Flint Rooms, Crypt Gallery, 23 Church

12 noon – 3pm Sunday.
In an age of mass
produced imported goods
it’s good to know that
you still have the choice
to buy handcrafted and
individually designed
gifts and treats for
the festive season,
made and sold within a few miles from where
you live. Such makers and creators will be
gathered together by the Sussex Arts Collective
throughout December in Seaford’s unique and
atmospheric Crypt Gallery.
‘Merrily!’ will be the Sussex Arts Collective’s
fourteenth Christmas show and promises to be a
veritable bonanza of superb art and craft from over
forty, yes over forty, outstanding virtuosos working in a
diverse and eclectic mix of media and materials.
The exhibition will be open
daily from 30th November
to 22nd December, 10am to
4pm and Sundays midday to
3pm. ‘Merrily!’ will be open
during Seaford’s spectacular
festive shopping event,
Seaford Christmas Magic,
on Saturday 7th December.
Since March the group has been
holding smaller month-long
exhibitions, entitled Collections,
in the Cuckmere Room. This
run has now come to an end
and was an unequivocal success.
‘Merrily!’ will expand on the
small exhibitions, making use
of both the Cuckmere
and Flint Rooms as well
as the undercroft where
they will be showing a
myriad of ceramic and
sculptural works for the
home and garden.
Each Collections exhibition lasted
one month and made it possible for the Crypt Gallery
Trustees to maintain an ‘open door’ policy to the
building for just about all of the year. This subsequently
has provided many more opportunities for new and
past visitors from far and wide to see the enigmatic
undercroft and enjoy an ever increasing programme of
exciting events in both gallery rooms.
