The Grand Events Guide: January - May 2020

Happy New Year and welcome to an exciting new season of programming at The Grand. We have more than 50 events listed in these pages and more than 30 of these shows are playing or performing at the venue for the very first time. Our 20:20 vision is to provide a creative programme that offers new discoveries for all age groups of our community - whether it is introducing young children to theatre for the very first time, persuading independent bands to bring their tour to Clitheroe, or offering tried and trusted entertainment to our most established concert goers. Creative participation is high on our agenda too. More than 500 of you join us on a weekly basis at our creative classes: The Grand Choir (Monday), Be My Band (Monday / Thursday), Let’s Dance (Wednesday), Streetfeet (Thursday), Rock and Learn (Friday) and Ella Shaw’s Academy of the Arts (Saturday morning). All these projects are going great guns, but we do still have capacity for anyone interested in joining these activities. Throughout 2020 The Grand will also be partnering and assisting in the production of a number of local arts festivals. This starts on February 8th, with the Snowmoon Festival, a celebration of light and the coming of spring, in which many local venues will be participating. Make a note in your calendars for: The Ribble Valley Jazz Festival (1st weekend of May), Cloudspotting Festival, Gisburn Forest (June 19-21), King of the Castle Skate Comp (June 27) and Clitheroe Choir Festival (July 10-12). Watch out too for the advent of a new festival, Hope Streets, which will be produced by young creatives under the leadership of Curious Minds, over the summer months. We would like to thank all our partners, audiences and participants for your continued support and reserve the biggest shout for our volunteer team who help make your experiences with us all the more enjoyable. We look forward to welcoming you to one or more of our events.

BOOKING SERVICE<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>Grand</strong> charges a small booking fee of £1.50 per transaction (not ticket). This helps us deliver a<br />

more efficient box office and contributes to <strong>The</strong> <strong>Grand</strong>’s wider outreach work. Buying tickets in advance<br />

through our box office is always cheaper than using external ticket agencies or paying on the door.<br />

TICKET COLLECTIONS<br />

If you have selected the ‘Collect on Box Office’ option when purchasing your event tickets, you will be<br />

able to pick them up at the box office when you arrive for the show. In most cases, this will be possible<br />

from 30 minutes before the published ‘doors’ time. If you are collecting tickets, please ensure you bring<br />

either your booking reference number or the card that you purchased the tickets with.<br />

COLLECTING ON BEHALF OF SOMEONE ELSE: If you are collecting on behalf of someone else and you<br />

are not the person whose card was used to purchase the tickets, we will ask for the purchaser’s details<br />

(card number that was used to purchase the tickets and/or the booking reference) and your name.<br />

Where possible please ensure you let our Box Office know if someone is collecting tickets on your behalf<br />

and provide them with the booking reference number.<br />

CONCESSIONS<br />

Where stated concessions are available for children (Under 18), students (with valid ID) and adults<br />

(Over 60). People with disabilities who are unable to attend events on their own are entitled to one free<br />

ticket for their support worker or carer. Proof of status is required.<br />

REFUNDS<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>Grand</strong> Venue cannot issue refunds or exchange tickets once they have been purchased unless the<br />

event has been cancelled. Please be extra vigilant when buying multiple tickets in case those you are<br />

buying for cannot attend the event. <strong>The</strong> <strong>Grand</strong> Venue regrets it cannot refund where a mistake has<br />

been made by the customer during the ticket-buying process.<br />

EVENT POSTPONEMENTS / CANCELLATIONS<br />

From time to time, events are cancelled or postponed, usually for circumstances not in the control of<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>Grand</strong> Venue. In this case we will always contact all ticket holders by phone or email and offer a<br />

full refund for the ticket(s) purchased (including booking fee). Please ensure that the details we have<br />

for you at our Box Office are up-to-date, this helps us maintain an efficient service.<br />

AGE RESTRICTIONS<br />

Unless otherwise stated all of our events are suitable for 14+. Anyone under the age of 18 must be<br />

accompanied by an adult. Please check the film certificate for all film screenings, this acts as an age<br />

restriction.<br />

FOOD EVENTS<br />

Advance booking may be required. Sales will close 3 working days prior to the event. Allergens and<br />

dietary requirements must be notified on booking. Pizza Café: Advanced booking is recommended to<br />

avoid disappointment. A limited number of Pizzas will be available to order on the event itself.<br />
