5. Romance Languages

All the Romance languages originated from Vulgar Latin in some way.

Many of them, including English have plenty of ancient words in their

vocabulary even today. They are called Romance languages because

their parent tongue was spoken by the Roman Empire in the past.

3. The Church Connection

Not only is it the language of the Vatican, it is also used by the people

of the Roman Catholic Church if their mother tongues are not the

same. A lot of ceremonies in the Vatican are held in this tongue. Prayers

are also said in Latin words.

4. Communication Between Scholar

During the Medieval Times, it was used as the means of communication

between international scholars. Whenever intellectuals from different

parts of the world gathered to discuss an issue, they used it as their means

of communication if they didn’t know each other’s mother tongue. This

also increased the importance of Latin. Many ancient classics were also

written in this tongue and were later translated into different languages.

It has been a long time since the world had native speakers for Latin, but that hasn't stopped

people from learning and speaking the tongue. Many linguists continue to be fascinated by it.
