CONDUCTORSButterfly. Early in his career, he worked regularlywith the Costa Rican Lyric Opera and has conductednew productions of Carmen, La bohème andRigoletto. In 2008 he gave the Australian premiereof Osvaldo Golijov's one-act opera Ainadamar atthe Adelaide Festival.Guerrero previously held posts as the PrincipalGuest Conductor of The Cleveland OrchestraMiami (2011-2016), Music Director of the EugeneSymphony (2002-2009), and Associate Conductorof the Minnesota Orchestra (1999-2004).Born in Nicaragua, Guerrero immigrated duringhis childhood to Costa Rica, where he joinedthe local youth symphony. As a promising youngstudent, he came to the United States to studypercussion and conducting at Baylor University inTexas; he earned his master’s degree in conductingat Northwestern, where he studied with VictorYampolsky. Given his beginnings in civic youthorchestras, Guerrero is particularly engaged withconducting training orchestras and has workedwith the Curtis School of Music, Colburn Schoolin Los Angeles, and Yale Philharmonia, as wellas with the Nashville Symphony’s Accelerandoprogram. In recent years, he has also developeda relationship with the National Youth Orchestra(NYO2) in New York, created and operated by theWeill Institute of Music at Carnegie Hall.ENRICOLOPEZ-YAÑEZPrincipal Pops ConductorEnrico Lopez-Yañez is the Principal PopsConductor of the Nashville Symphony.Appointed in 2019, he leads the Symphony’sPops Series and Family Series. Since workingwith the Nashville Symphony, Lopez-Yañez hasconducted concerts with a broad spectrumof artists, including Toby Keith, Richard Marx,Jennifer Nettles, Renée Elise Goldsberry, MeganHilty, Hanson, Kenny Loggins and more.During the 2019/20 season, Lopez-Yañez willmake appearances with the San Diego Symphony,Indianapolis Symphony and Edmonton Symphony,and return performances with the DetroitSymphony, Rochester Philharmonic and SarasotaOrchestra. He has appeared with orchestrasthroughout the United States, including the UtahSymphony, Omaha Symphony and Oklahoma CityPhilharmonic.As artistic director and co-founder of SymphonicaProductions, LLC, Lopez-Yañez curates and leadsprograms designed to cultivate new audiences. Anenthusiastic proponent of innovating the concertexperience, he has created exciting education,classical and pops concerts for orchestras acrossthe United States.Sharing an equal love for opera, Lopez-Yañezserved as Assistant Conductor and Chorus Masterfor the Berkshire Opera Festival, where his workwas met with rave reviews. He has led operagala concerts in San Diego and Aguascalientes(Mexico), as well as a production of MadamaButterfly with Main Street Opera in Chicago.Lopez-Yañez is an active producer, composerand arranger whose work can be heard onnumerous albums, including the UNESCO benefitAction Moves People United and the children’smusic collection The Spaceship That Fell in MyBackyard, winner of the John Lennon SongwritingContest, Global Music Awards, Hollywood Musicand Media Awards, and more.Lopez-Yañez previously held the position ofAssistant Conductor with the Nashville Symphonyand Omaha Symphony.
