ANSI HIGH MASS IMPACT TEST
Wiley X ANSI-rated frames and lenses must withstand the impact of a 1.1lb. projectile
dropped from a height of 50" to ensure your eyes are protected from unexpected blunt
force impacts.
ANSI HIGH VELOCITY IMPACT TEST
Wiley X ANSI-rated frames and lenses must withstand the impact of a .25" diameter steel
ball. For spectacles the projectile must be traveling 150fps and for a goggle 250fps.
V0 BALLISTIC TESTING
Several Wiley X eyewear models are tested to V0 ballistics which consists of a spectacle
frame and lens being impacted with a .15 caliber projectile traveling 640-725fps
depending on Mil-Standard and model, or a goggle frame and lens with a .22 caliber
projectile traveling 550-590fps depending on Mil-Standard and model. This test is meant
to simulate shrapnel that may be encountered on the battlefield.
REMOVABLE FACIAL CAVITY SEALS
Fine dust and pollen, as well as wind, can cause long-term eye irritation, such as Dry
Eye Syndrome. Peripheral light can also diminish optical clarity. Wiley X's removable
soft foam Facial Cavity Seals block out even the finest irritants and peripheral light,
protecting the eyes and allowing polarized lenses to perform at peak levels.
ANSI EXPLAINED
ANSI stands for the American
National Standards Institute. ANSI
doesn't actually set standards; rather,
it approves the establishment of
committees that set the rules that
companies use to develop products.
It oversees the testing process and
approves the final products as
American National Standards, or
ANSI-rated.

ANSI RATED LENS AND FRAME MARKS
WX Precedes all ANSI rating marks and
designates Wiley X as the manufacturer
of the product.
Z87 The eyewear frame and temples or goggle
frame passes the ANSI high velocity and
high impact test.

Wiley X Alternative Fit styles are designed for people who have high cheekbones and a
shallow nose bridge. By widening the nose bridge, the eyewear sits higher on the face
to prevent contact with the cheeks.
