FOREWORD<br />

1. This is the first of a series of three publications dealing with World War II<br />

APOs. This particular list shows the APOs in numerical order with their geographical locations<br />

arranged chronologically. The other two will list the cities in alphabetical order;<br />

the second being an integrated list irrespective of country and the third, a listing<br />

of the cities in each country, island group, etc.<br />

2. The information contained herein relative to the geographical location of APOs<br />

was obtained from periodic reports received from overseas and it does not, in every instance,<br />

show each individual move that was made by some of the more mobile divisional APOs.<br />

The information is generally correct except for varying interpretations of the spelling of<br />

certain foreign cities.<br />

3. An explanation of certain terms used herein, including abbreviated postmaster addresses,<br />

is given below:<br />

shown subsequent to an "FST" entry.<br />

TMA Terminated as mailing address.<br />

4. Appendix 1 shows the APO numbers used by the various Army groups, Armies, Corps<br />

and Divisions.
