Thule Lodge #127<br />
Jamestown, Bemus Point, NY<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Thule Lodge #127 at a recent<br />
meeting.<br />
Hello from Thule Lodge #127 in <strong>the</strong><br />
Jamestown/Bemus Point, NY, area. We<br />
are in <strong>the</strong> middle <strong>of</strong> our winter wea<strong>the</strong>r,<br />
and look <strong>for</strong>ward to <strong>the</strong> spring <strong>for</strong> our<br />
many warm wea<strong>the</strong>r events.<br />
Thule Lodge #127 completed its 103rd<br />
year in December 2010, and continues to<br />
preserve <strong>the</strong> Swedish heritage through<br />
events and activities. Cultural leader<br />
Fanchon Fuller in<strong>for</strong>ms members <strong>of</strong> all<br />
future activities, along with providing<br />
some in<strong>for</strong>mation on a Swedish activity.<br />
All appreciate Fanchon <strong>for</strong> her time and<br />
ef<strong>for</strong>ts.<br />
Election <strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>ficers took place recently,<br />
and past chairman Eugene Johnson<br />
was in charge <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> nominating committee.<br />
Elected as <strong>the</strong> chairman <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> lodge<br />
is Ralph Veights, with Jeff Anderson as<br />
<strong>the</strong> vice chairman. Lucile Marsh will<br />
serve as <strong>the</strong> lodge secretary and Loretta<br />
Smith as <strong>the</strong> treasurer. Donna Sandberg<br />
will serve as <strong>the</strong> financial secretary.<br />
Diane Shaw will serve as <strong>the</strong> lodge chaplain,<br />
and John Sipos as <strong>the</strong> historian. Don<br />
Carlson will serve as <strong>the</strong> inner guardsman,<br />
with Nels John Nelson as <strong>the</strong> outer<br />
guardsman. Fanchon Fuller will continue<br />
as <strong>the</strong> cultural leader. Donna Johnson will<br />
serve as <strong>the</strong> mistress <strong>of</strong> ceremony, assisted<br />
by Bernice Veights. Current lodge<br />
chairman Edwin Sandberg will hold <strong>the</strong><br />
title <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> immediate past chairman.<br />
<strong>The</strong> lodge is holding <strong>the</strong>ir monthly<br />
business meetings on <strong>the</strong> winter schedule<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> third Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.<br />
At a recent meeting, newly elected treasurer<br />
Loretta Smith provided us with her<br />
homemade pies during <strong>the</strong> refreshment<br />
time.<br />
Our lodge had <strong>the</strong> wonderful opportunity<br />
to have some improvements in <strong>the</strong><br />
last year, and this was due to <strong>the</strong> financial<br />

generosity <strong>of</strong> many, under <strong>the</strong> direction<br />
<strong>of</strong> Robert Fuller. Lodge member Susan<br />
Sipos compiled <strong>the</strong> list <strong>for</strong> all to see, and<br />
included Swedish art decorations to add<br />
to <strong>the</strong> attractiveness <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> list. Thule<br />
Lodge hopes that everyone will have a<br />
happy spring season. If you are in our<br />
area, we would welcome you to our lodge<br />

Members and guests <strong>of</strong> Tegnér Lodge #149 at <strong>the</strong>ir 102nd Annivesary banquet.<br />
Twenty-two members and guests <strong>of</strong> Tegnér Lodge #149, Oakland, CA, celebrated<br />
<strong>the</strong> lodge’s 102nd Anniversary with a banquet at Pier 29 Restaurant in Alameda, CA,<br />
on November 13, 2010. Remarks were made by our Chairman Marie Ann Hill,<br />
District Master Scott Mat<strong>the</strong>ws, Grand Lodge Treasurer Keith Hanlon, Past Junior<br />
District Master Richard Wooster, and Assistant District Master Victoria Thurman.<br />
Rhoda Gilbertson read <strong>the</strong> congratulatory cards <strong>the</strong> lodge had received, and Ann<br />
Tennis gave a short review <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> life <strong>of</strong> Esaias Tegnér <strong>for</strong> whom our lodge is named.<br />
A good time was had by all.<br />
<strong>The</strong> next week we held our regular potluck supper meeting at Björnson Hall.<br />
Kathryn Hughes and Richard Orlando showed us pictures taken during <strong>the</strong>ir trip to<br />
Sweden last summer.<br />

is no cause <strong>for</strong> suspicion; it is <strong>the</strong> arrival<br />
<strong>of</strong> our incoming Chairman Michele<br />
Escalante, <strong>for</strong>merly <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> I.P.D., and her<br />
husband Josh, who is still on active duty.<br />
