Day NineDrawing Joy From The Wells Of SalvationSurely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid.The Lord, the Lord, is my strength and my song; he hasbecome my salvation. With joy you will draw water from thewells of salvation. - Isaiah 12:2-3In the wilderness and desert regions that birthed thenation of Israel there were very few rivers, and only a smallnumber of wells. In this twelfth chapter of Isaiah theprophecy is being put forth that there would be a wellestablished that would be called salvation and those whodraw water from that well will have great joy.People have been coming to this well of salvation forover 2000 years and everyone who comes goes away satisfiedand filled up with joy. I have seen many people come toGod broken, lost and outcast from the community, and Ihave witnessed the change that comes over them when theypartake of the water at the well of salvation.A picture I get when I think of this refreshing well filledwith an abundance of joy is that of person lost in the desertand seeking water. They may have entered the desert withhigh hopes and provisions for the journey, but along theway they became lost, their provisions were used up andthey were, alone, thirsty and slowly dying. Then, they see itin the distance; a well in the middle of the desert. They dragthemselves to the water and receive new life from the well.That is exactly what happens to all of us who find Jesus.When we were lost and desperate, someone offered us adrink from this well called salvation and our life was foreverchanged. Isaiah ends this chapter with; "Shout aloud andsing for joy, people of Zion, for great is the Holy One ofIsrael among you." You are at the well; drink and rejoice.Prayer: Lord, I thank you for the wellspring of life, which isJesus The Christ. Grant me the ability be content with therefreshing that comes from him. In Jesus name, amen.
