Abby Hankinson

High School Attended: Tonawanda High School

College Attending: University At Buffalo

How many years have you been a part of the TDA Family: 15

What was your first class at TDA? Tiny Tots with Miss Mel

What is your favorite style or genre of dance? Acro or Contemporary/Lyrical

What was your favorite dance: In The Pyramid or my solos this year

What was your least favorite costume: Up On The Ridge

What is the funniest memory you have involving TDA: When I nailed my acro dance or the New York City trip.

What have you learned while at TDA that will aid you in life? I have learned to trust the process and to

always remember that the journey is greater than the destination. You need to fail in order to succeed. As long

as you put in the work it will pay off, no matter how long it takes to see the results.

Can you describe a tough or challenging time you overcame while at TDA? I struggled a lot with my

confidence, but my teachers were able to help me come out of my shell and grow into the person I am today.

Now, I am more confident not only as a dancer but as a person as well.

What is your advice to young dancers? Never give up on yourself. You can do anything you put your mind to.

Be patient with yourself because most of the time the results won't happen overnight. Don't be afraid to take

risks. You need to step out of your comfort zone in order to grow as a dancer.

What role will dance play in your future? I will be majoring in dance at UB in the fall. I hope to use my passion

to teach and inspire others in the future. I want to be able to help young dancers find their passion.
