The Blue Basin
A complete system for waterproofing the floor slab, basement wall and plinth area, which interrupts the capillary
water transport and thereby prevents moisture from penetrating the floor slab. Geficon® safeguards
against chemical attack in reinforced concrete buildings and prevents corrosion thanks
to a full-surface bond with the concrete.
Areas of Use
Waterproofing against soil moisture and non-accumulating seepage water on ground-contacting
floor panels and exterior wall surfaces according to water impact class W-1E DIN 18533.
Description
Special features of the Geficon® Waterproofing System are its high watertightness, excellent
resistance to impact loads, special elasticity and high tensile bond strength when wet and dry.
The Geficon® Waterproofing System has good vapour-barrier properties, is thermally
stable and resistant to aging. It contains no plasticisers or other additives that could be
harmful to health.
The products can be safely used in living rooms and public buildings such as
kindergartens, schools and hospitals. Our installation guideline provides
exact details on how the Geficon® Waterproofing System is properly
applied and used. All components of the system are compatible
with each other to ensure clean and proper execution of all joints.
Certifications & Standards
Use of the Geficon® Waterproofing System is governed
by a German general test certificate
(AbP, Allgemeines bauaufsichtliches Prüfzeugnis), No. P-1200/321/15 MPA-BS,
for use as building waterproofing pursuant to EN 13967.
The waterproofing products carry CE marking.

Floor Membrane

The Geficon® Floor Membrane is a modern quality product
Made in Germany and developed by Gefinex GmbH.
It comprises an EN 13967 compliant, flexible polyethylene
waterproof membrane lined with nonwoven fabric on both
sides, to be laid beneath the floor slab prior to concreting,
in order to protect the building from rising damp.
The waterproof membrane is laid upon the blinding layer
before pouring the concrete slab.
To secure it in place, the membrane is equipped with adhesive
tape, so that overlapping joints can be stuck quickly and
securely together. As the concrete hardens, the membrane
makes a permanent bond with the concrete.

Waterproofing against soil moisture according to water impact
class W-1E DIN 18533.
Properties
Resistant to mechanical damage and completely watertight.
Longitudinally integrated adhesive tape makes it easy to
connect membrane sheets together.

The Geficon® Wall Membrane is an EN13967 compliant
waterproofing membrane for walls, made of polyethylene
lined with nonwoven fabric on both sides, to be adhered to
underground walls, the plinth area and the edge faces
of the floor slab using Geficon® Formwork Strips.

Sealing Tape
Geficon®
Cuff
Geficon® Sealing Tape is a component of the Geficon® Floor
Waterproofing System. An adhesive tape made of polyethylene
lined on both sides with nonwoven polypropylene fabric. This
duct tape can be used to join corner joints together with ease.
It is bonded using Geficon® Sealant Adhesive.
Areas of Use
For bonding corner joints of Geficon® Floor Membrane,
Geficon® Formwork Strips and Geficon® Wall.

The Cuff, as a component of the Geficon® Floor Waterproofing
System, is a collar made of polyethylene film lined on both
sides with nonwoven polypropylene fabric and combined with
an EPDM moulded part. It serves to make a waterproof
connection between the Geficon® Floor Membrane and
pipelines, such as PVC wastewater pipes and empty conduits.
The Geficon® Cuff is simply joined to Geficon® Floor
Membrane using Geficon® Sealant & Adhesive. The building
is thereby securely protected against moisture at penetrations.

Geficon®
Fold Strip
The Geficon® Inner and Outer Corners are moulded parts
made of polyethylene film lined on both sides with a
polypropylene nonwoven fabric, available as an accessory for
the Geficon® Floor Waterproofing System. The inner and outer
corners are placed into the corners of the formwork for the floor
slab. The building is thereby fully protected against moisture all
the way into the corners.

Geficon®
MSH Cuff
The Geficon® Protective Mat is an accessory for the
Geficon® Wall Waterproofing System. It is installed around
the wall of the basement in order to protect the Geficon®
Wall Membrane from backfill. The surface is smooth on
both sides, and ensures that no shear stresses arise when
compacting the backfill material, which could otherwise
lead to cracks or drooping of the waterproofing and
insulating boards.

when backfilling.

Geficon® MSH Cuff is a component of the Geficon®
sealing system and adapted to all standard multi-line house
connections. The sleeve consists of a polyethylene film, which
is laminated on both sides with a polypropylene fleece.
The prefabricated holes for pipe feedthroughs and cables are
edged with an EPDM coating. Geficon® MSH is used for the
tight connection of the Geficon® UDB to multi-line house
junction boxes. The cuff collar is connected to the Geficon®
UDB with the Geficon® D&K.

Our products are as varied
as our customers.
With our products, our company has set examples and trends that have made positive changes
in the building trade. We want to continue to do so in future and, as Applications Technician,
I have accepted the challenge of helping shape this course.
We work together with architects, installers and building owners in order to continually
improve our products and to make them safer and easier to use. That means sometimes
we even break away from convention. A good example of this is the development of the
„Geficon® Waterproofing System“. Together with planners, installers and the materials testing
institute MPA Braunschweig, we developed this Waterproofing System for the basement
wall and floor slab. It is an all-round „care-free package“ that brings all the advantages of
a coordinated Waterproofing System. Architects need not worry about how they are going
to find and coordinate different products, and installers need not worry about working conditions – the waterproofing can
be laid in just about any weather. Our focus is on developing and manufacturing practical construction products for noise
and moisture protection in building construction. With innovative and intelligent system solutions featuring modern materials,
we will continue to make building methods not only better, easier and safer in future, but have also pledged, for ourselves
and our raw material suppliers, that our products will protect our natural resources so that the building owner can truly enjoy
„healthy living“.
