The wear schedule can varyfrom two-weeks, monthly and evendaily disposable types of lenses.Depending on your lifestyle and thehealth of your eyes, contacts canbe an effective and safe alternativeto glasses when used with theproper care.There are two parts to safecontact lens wear. The first is properuse and handling and the secondis contact solutions. Here are someimportant tips to remember:- Always wash your hands beforehandling lenses or touching youreyes. Be especially careful duringCOVID-19 as the virus can spreadthrough the eyes as well as noseand mouth.- Do not wear your lenses overnightunless recommended by youreye care professional. Overnightwear of contact lenses cangreatly increase your risk of sightthreateninginfections.- Remove your lenses immediatelyif your eyes become red, irritatedor painful or if vision is blurred andnotify your eye care professional.- Be careful not to get lotions,creams or sprays in your eyes oron your lenses. It is best to putyour lenses in before putting onmake-up and remove them priorto taking off make-up.- Use only the contact lens solutionthat is recommended by your eyecare professional.- Remember to clean the contactlens case as well since it is apotential source of infection. Itshould be washed with soapand water and allowed to air dryweekly.- The fit and power of the contactlens should be evaluated on aregular basis by your eye careprovider to maintain comfort andoptimal vision.Worn with the proper care,contact lenses are a great optionfor people who do not wish towear glasses or whose life stylemakes spectacle wear difficult orinconvenient.
