<strong>AFS</strong> Partners.<br />

AFFILIATIONS<br />

<strong>AFS</strong> has special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council<br />

(ECOSOC) of the United Nations and works with the Department of Public<br />

Information of the United Nations. <strong>AFS</strong> is a participating member of the following<br />

international organizations: The Society for <strong>Intercultural</strong> Education, Training<br />

and Research (SIETAR) and the Institute of International Education (IIE).<br />

The European Federation for <strong>Intercultural</strong> Learning (EFIL) is the umbrella organization<br />

for <strong>AFS</strong> Partners in Europe. EFIL has consultative status with the Council of Europe<br />

and with UNESCO and is a member of the European Youth Forum. EFIL cooperates<br />

with and is a member of many European education and youth organizations.<br />

<strong>AFS</strong>-USA is a founding member of the Alliance for International Education and<br />

Cultural Exchange, and serves on the board of directors of the Council on Standards<br />

for International Educational Travel (CSIET). Other <strong>AFS</strong> Partner organizations in many<br />

countries maintain affiliations with their respective national youth councils, international<br />

education associations and other governmental and non-governmental organizations.<br />
