Edo: PDP chides Ize-Iyamu for adopting

election, yesterday, mocked
the All Progressives Congress,
APC, governorship
candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu,
for saying that he
would follow the footprint
of the former APC national
chairman, Adams Oshiomhole,
if voted into power.
The PDP also challenged
Oshiomhole to present his
primary School Leaving
Certificate if he actually
went to school.

election, Chief
Dan Orbih, while addressing
party members and
supporters in (Ward 5) Ososo
and (Ward 10) Dangbala,
Akoko-Edo LGA of
Edo State, urged Oshiomhole
to disclose to Nigerians
the cause of quarrel
with his successor, Governor
Godwin Obaseki,
whom he described as a
worthy Alumnus of Nigeria
premier University of
Ibadan, UI.
Orbih said, "They said
Obaseki who graduated
from University of Ibadan
has a Certificate. I make
bold to say that I challenge
Oshiomhole to show us his
Primary 6 certificate. He
should allow Edo people to
decide who governs them.
In four years, Obaseki has
done more than what Oshiomhole
did in eight years."
On his part, Obaseki announced
that the construction
of the 12.75km Ososo-
Okpella Road, which was
abandoned by previous
administration, will begin
before the end of the year.
The governor, who highlighted
his achievements,
said that he secured the
commitment from the
Chairman of the BOA Cement
Plc, Alhaji Abdulsamad
Rabiu, who promised
to undertake the project.
Obaseki also disclosed
his government plans to
carryout maintenance work
at the Ojirami Dam established
by the administration
of late Brig. General Samuel
Ogbemudia (rted) towards
addressing acute
water supply in the rural
areas.
Meanwhile, addressing
newsmen at the party's
headquarters, secretary of
the publicity sub-committee
of the campaign council,
Kola Ologbondiyan, said,
"It is laughable that after
much orchestration, Ize-
Iyamu has abandoned his
plagiarized simple agenda,
which, in any case, he has
no capacity to execute, to
follow Oshiomhole's detestable
'go and die' policy and
agenda of falsehood, treasury
looting, injecting of
confusion and disregard for
values, welfare and sensibilities
of the people.
"Oshiomhole's footprint as
the governor of Edo State
include intimidation of widows,
alleged suppression
of personal freedom of citizens,
entrenchment of corruption
for which the Edo
people have been demanding
his prosecution.
"That is the footprint Ize-
Iyamu said he would be
following; the style of an
individual who is always
associated with engendering
confusion, quarreling,
disagreements and disunity.
"We are not amazed that
Ize-iyamu, having become
overburdened by reputation
issues, surrendered
the APC candidacy to another
individual, who was
suspended by his kinsmen
at his ward and disgracefully
kicked out as the national
chairman of his party.
"Given this sad declaration

WARRI—A prominent
Niger Delta leader of
the Itsekiri extraction, Pa
Prince Oki has described
recent call by former governor
of Kaduna State, Alhaji
Balarabe Musa for the next
president of the country to
come from the South East
region as misleading.
Pa Oki, who spoke in Warri,
Delta State said, there had
never been anything as
South East region in the history
of the country, adding
that the nation operated four
regions which he listed as
Northern, Eastern, Western
and Mid West.
He said for sake of fairness,
the Mid Western region
should produce the next
president since it was the
only defunct region in the
country that had not produced
a president for the
country.
He called for unity among
leaders of the defunct Midwestern
region which today
has broken into Edo and
Delta states.
"Balarabe Musa in the
Vanguard publication, said
that the Presidency should
go to the South East region
of the country in 2023.

Wike of Rivers State, yesterday,
handed 41 Range Rover
Sport Utility Vehicles, SUV,
to judges in the state Judiciary
as well as seven judges of
Rivers origin in the Federal
Judicial Service.
The governor said the gesture
was to change perceived
"unfortunate narrative" of complete
neglect and disdain judicial
officers suffered before
he assumed governorship of
Rivers State.
Wike also announced the
completion of 20 luxury and
fully furnished Judges Quarters
built to provide decent accommodation
for judges in
the state.
He, however, chided judges
for involvement in partisan
politics through their comments,
special affiliations,
body language and palpable
commitments, calling for concerted
efforts at ensuring that
judicial officers maintain
"highest sense of responsibility,
integrity and productivity
on duty."
He said, "Adjudication and
politics are incompatible extremes,
hence, no judge can

We'll give priority to projects that'll
boost Delta economy —Okowa

A SABA—GOVERNOR
Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta
State, yesterday, assured that
the state government would
continue to give priority attention
to projects that would
boost the economy and enhance
the living condition of
the people.
Giving the assurance
while inspecting some ongoing
projects in Asaba,
Okowa disclosed that the
twin-project of Film Village
and Leisure Park would
serve as a community where
people would go for entertainment,
relaxation and
making of movies.
He said that the project,
would on completion, create
employment opportunities
for many persons, especially
now that the number of
the unemployed is increasing,
noting that Asaba has
always been a "movie town."
He added that the Film Village
would positively impact
on the economy of the city.
Disclosing that the project
would be completed in 2021,
barring unforeseen circumstances,
he said the Leisure
Park was of "great importance
to us because whatever you
do, there is need for relaxation
and we believe that the
park will provide that relaxation
for both our children
and adults.
