Using CBD for Pain
Why do people choose to use CBD for pain instead of prescribed pain
killers?
Over the last 5 years there has been huge movement away from
prescribed pain killers to more natural methods of dealing with day to day
pain, and to some extent, chronic pain.
CBD has been one of the biggest drivers in this movement - being given
momentum both by testimonials from users as well as a feeling by the
public that prescribed medicine are causing lots of issues later in life,
including liver and kidney diseases as well as addiction.
One the biggest benefits of using CBD is that it does not have the
psychoactive properties of it's cousin, THC.
Cannabis has been used to treat pain and inflammation for thousands of
years, way back to ancient Chinese practicioners.
The recent wave of support for both cannabis, and more specifically CBD
has come about due to a mix of word of mouth, and big media coverage of
people having great results.
When a person has been taking opioid painkillers for 30 years and is able
to switch to natural plant extract and get the same, if not better results -
there must be something in it.
CBD works with our bodies own Endo-Cannabinoid system which has two
main receptors. CB1 receptors are mostly found in the brain and CB2
receptors are mostly in the immune system and the gastrointestinal
system. The CB1 receptors are the ones that have an effect on our pain
receptors. It is also related to mood, appetite and memory.
Some people find that using CBD topically on pain or inflammation works
better for them as they are able to localise where the CBD is used and
focus it there, rather than the effects being spread about the body
generally. For more information, please do your own research or speak to
your local Genius Hemp distributor.
