ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS AND POLICIES<br />

WAYS OF KNOWING (9 <strong>course</strong>s totaling at least 24 credit hours)<br />

The Fine and Performing Arts (2 <strong>course</strong>s totaling 4-6 credit hours)<br />

One theory <strong>course</strong> and one applied <strong>course</strong> in different disciplines, from ART,<br />

MUS, and THA. (A student who satisfactorily completes two entire academic<br />

year enrollments in Chorale, Chamber Singers, or Private Instruction will be<br />

deemed to have fulfilled the requirement of one applied <strong>course</strong> in Music).<br />

The Humanities (2 <strong>course</strong>s totaling 6 credit hours)<br />

One <strong>course</strong> in literature from ENG, FRE, SPA, or THA; and one <strong>course</strong> in<br />

PHI or REL* (History and Political Science majors may use PSC320W).<br />

The Sciences (2 <strong>course</strong>s totaling 6 credit hours)<br />

One 4-credit hour <strong>course</strong> in laboratory science from BIO, CHM, EVS, PHS, or<br />

PHY; and S&M200 (non-Science & Mathematics division majors) or S&M286<br />

(Science & Mathematics division majors only, excluding Computer Studies<br />

majors following the Graphic Arts track).<br />

The Social Sciences (2 <strong>course</strong>s totaling 6 credit hours)<br />

PSY101 or SOC102; and one <strong>course</strong> from: ECO111, ECO112, PSC150,<br />

PSC250, or any <strong>course</strong> in HIS.<br />

Wellness (1 <strong>course</strong> of 2 credit hours)<br />

HED170 (not required for Physical Education Teacher Certification majors).<br />

KNOWLEDGE INTEGRATION (4 <strong>course</strong>s totaling 10 credit hours)<br />

Western Civilization and Culture* (2 <strong>course</strong>s totaling 6 credit hours)<br />

IDS261W and IDS262<br />

Freshman and Senior Seminars (2 <strong>course</strong>s totaling 4 credit 4 hours)<br />

IDS101 and IDS490W*<br />

* Not covered by the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI)<br />

GLOBAL AWARENESS (6+ credit hours)<br />

Students may select one of three options (A, B, or C):<br />

(A) Foreign Language (6 credit hours)<br />

Select Ancient Greek (GRK224/225), French (FRE115/120), or Spanish<br />

(SPA115/120). Students who have completed four years of study in high school<br />

of a language not offered by <strong>Eureka</strong> <strong>College</strong> must demonstrate a similar level of<br />
