AC Motor<br />

First, determ<strong>in</strong>e certa<strong>in</strong> features of the design, such as mechanism,<br />

rough dimensions, distance moved, and position<strong>in</strong>g period.<br />

From the required resolution, determ<strong>in</strong>e whether a motor only is to<br />

be used or whether a geared motor is to be used.<br />

F<strong>in</strong>d the acceleration (deceleration) period and operat<strong>in</strong>g pulse<br />

speed <strong>in</strong> order to calculate the acceleration torque.<br />

Calculate the load torque and acceleration torque and f<strong>in</strong>d the<br />

required torque demanded by the motor.<br />

Select a motor whose speed-torque characteristics satisfy the<br />

requirement.<br />

Check the acceleration/deceleration rate and <strong>in</strong>ertia ratio <strong>in</strong> order to<br />

determ<strong>in</strong>e the suitability of the selection<br />
