MCA Junior Show opens
show season in Missouri
A beautiful early June day greeted those in attendance
at the Missouri Cattleman’s All Breed Junior Show June
9th at the State Fairgrounds in Sedalia. Ninety head of
excellent Herefords were presented before judge Travis
Arp. Although Mr. Arp comes from Wisconsin originally,
he received his undergraduate education at Mizzou and
is just now finishing a PhD at Colorado State University
in Fort Collins, CO. He had high praise for the quality
of the animals shown and commented that he had to look
for small points to separate the top three or four in a class
because they were all such good animals.
When all the female classes had appeared before
the judge, Joel Butler’s heifer, C&M New Mexico
Lady 0091, was chosen as the Champion. The Reserve
Champion honors went to LL D03 Guinevere 27Y owned
and shown by Brett Littleton.
Molly Wood claimed the Champion Bull designation
with CB Winchester 1104. The Reserve Champion prize
went to Joel Butler for BPH 262 Chism 515Y sired by
KJ Manhattan.
In the steer classes nine animals were shown and the
Champion ribbon went to Brianne Abramovitz with her
steer. Little Red. Jordann Gregory had the Reserve
Champion with her steer, Willard.
After the judging was completed the showmanship
awards were announced. Makayla Reynolds received
the Senior Showmanship honor and Cody Murphy was
named Junior Showman.
