MCA Junior Show opens<br />

show season in <strong>Missouri</strong><br />

A beautiful early June day greeted those in attendance<br />

at <strong>the</strong> <strong>Missouri</strong> Cattleman’s All Breed Junior Show June<br />

9th at <strong>the</strong> State Fairgrounds in Sedalia. Ninety head of<br />

excellent <strong>Hereford</strong>s were presented before judge Travis<br />

Arp. Although Mr. Arp comes from Wisconsin originally,<br />

he received his undergraduate education at Mizzou and<br />

is just now finishing a PhD at Colorado State University<br />

in Fort Collins, CO. He had high praise for <strong>the</strong> quality<br />

of <strong>the</strong> animals shown and commented that he had to look<br />

for small points to separate <strong>the</strong> top three or four in a class<br />

because <strong>the</strong>y were all such good animals.<br />

When all <strong>the</strong> female classes had appeared before<br />

<strong>the</strong> judge, Joel Butler’s heifer, C&M New Mexico<br />

Lady 0091, was chosen as <strong>the</strong> Champion. The Reserve<br />

Champion honors went to LL D03 Guinevere 27Y owned<br />

and shown by Brett Littleton.<br />

Molly Wood claimed <strong>the</strong> Champion Bull designation<br />

with CB Winchester 1104. The Reserve Champion prize<br />

went to Joel Butler for BPH 262 Chism 515Y sired by<br />

KJ Manhattan.<br />

In <strong>the</strong> steer classes nine animals were shown and <strong>the</strong><br />

Champion ribbon went to Brianne Abramovitz with her<br />

steer. Little Red. Jordann Gregory had <strong>the</strong> Reserve<br />

Champion with her steer, Willard.<br />

After <strong>the</strong> judging was completed <strong>the</strong> showmanship<br />

awards were announced. Makayla Reynolds received<br />

<strong>the</strong> Senior Showmanship honor and Cody Murphy was<br />

named Junior Showman.<br />
