Cardboard face powder
boxes were manufactured
all over the US and Europe
by cosmetic companies. The
round and square boxes were
sold filled with loose powder.

were usually very ornate,
detailed and often art deco
in design. Here are some
examples: Egizia “La Ducale,”
Fougere by L. Borsai & Figli
and Segreto D’Amore by
Borsari.

“Segreto d’Amore” powder box.
In 1950, Italian jeweler, Louis Nichilo,
designed a lipstick in the shape of the
Leaning Tower of Pisa. It’s 3” tall and made
of a silver colored based metal with faux
jewels. It’s marked Rome, Italy on the base.
Italian textured gold tone compacts in the shape
of an owl and fox with rhinestone eyes. Each
compact includes a mirror and powder area on
the inside. Circa 1960s.
