Chandler steps down
Beloit College to search for
new director of athletics
BELOIT — After four years at Beloit College,
Athletic Director Kim Chandler is resigning to
accept the same position at Macalester College
in St. Paul, Minn.
“I’ve had an amazing experience at Beloit
College with the people I’ve met, the people I’ve
worked with and the people I’ve worked for,”
Chandler said. “I’m very thankful to the coaches
and student-athletes for their passion and commitment,
and also to the rest of the student
body for their support.”
Chandler became Beloit’s first full-time director
of athletics on July 1, 2004, coming from
Saginaw Valley State University in Saginaw,
Mich., where she was the assistant athletic
director for business affairs and the senior
woman administrator.
While at Beloit, she initiated and developed
an athletic facility master plan that involves a
multi-million-dollar enhancement of the college’s
athletic facilities. During the just-completed
2007-’08 school year, The Sports Center,
home of Buccaneer athletics, saw numerous

The four locker rooms adjacent to the fitness
center were remodeled, including new carpeting
and technology capabilities.
A development plan also is under way for the
Strong Stadium Complex, which opened a new
six-court all-weather surface tennis center in
the spring of 2007.
“Kim’s passion for building a positive and
rewarding experience for student athletes was
central to everything she did at Beloit,” said Bill
Flanagan, vice president for student affairs and
dean of students.
Chandler will begin her new duties in St.
Paul in July. The search for a new director of
athletics at Beloit College will begin shortly.
“Beloit College will forever be an important
part of me and who I am, and I wish continued
success to the entire campus and alumni community,”
Chandler said.

As a result of the federal Asbestos Hazard Emergency
Response Act (AHERA), every primary and secondary
school in the nation is required to develop a
management plan for Asbestos Containing Building
Materials. The School District of Beloit has the
continuing goal to maintain compliance with these
regulations and to provide a safe and healthful
environment for our staff, faculty, students, and the
general public.
All buildings utilized by the School District of Beloit are
inspected by EPA accredited inspectors every three
years. Based on these inspections, a state approved
management plan is in use at each facility. These
management plans offer facility specific information
regarding the location and type of asbestos containing
materials, as well as guidelines for the safe and
responsible handling of asbestos containing materials.
In addition, every six months a periodic surveillance is
performed. The management plan, including periodic
surveillance reports, is available for review in each
facility’s main office. It is matter of policy that all shortterm
workers and outside contractors are notified of the
management plan to identify any asbestos in their work
areas. This past year the School District of Beloit
continued with the O & M program in place.
