Sandwiching and Quilting
Layer your chosen backing
fabric, batting and quilt top
and pin or baste securely. I
machine quilted my quilt in a
shadow pattern using 12wt
sulky thread. However it also
lends itself easily to hand
quilting or machine quilting in
the ditch. Trim the batting and
backing back to the edge of
the quilt top.
Binding
To bind the quilt edges, cut
five 2¼ inch WOF strips of the
binding fabric, join these into
a single strip, then press in
half lengthwise. Align the raw
edges with the raw edges of
the quilt and attach with a
seam a ¼ inch in from the raw
edges, taking care to fold the
fabric to mitre the corner.
Turn the binding to the back
and hand stitch in place.
