The Rio Grande flows nearly 1,900 milesfrom its headwaters to the Gulf of Mexico. The fullserviceski area covers 1,500 acres, has six lifts, and accommodatessnowboarding.68 CONTINENTAL DIVIDE SCENIC TRAIL — For aonce-in-a-lifetime trek try a hike along the Continental Divide Trailas it winds 235 miles through the Rio Grande National Forest atelevation of 10,500 to nearly 13,000 feet. This year would have markedthe 99th anniversary of the San Luis Valley Ski Hi Stampedeplanned in late July. There will be parades beginning at 10 a.m.on Friday and Saturday. The rodeo brings major entertainmentand many of the best cowboys in the country to Monte Vista’sSki-Hi Arena. Also enjoy dances, fireworks, carnival andchuckwagon dinner.
