A WORD FROM THE EDITORWelcome to Edition #004 of COMMANDO– The Magazine of the Aust ralianCommando Association.I hope that everyone is doing ok during thesepandemic times especially our Victorian members intheir harsh lockdowns.I know I can speak on behalf of all the members ofthe ACA and pass on our sincere condolences to thefamily of Moss Berryman who passed away on 6 Augustin South Australia. Moss was the last surviving memberof OP JAYWICK conducted by Z Special Unit inSeptember/October 1943. Commando 4 Life.Again, we have some great articles in this editionincluding our normal reports from Nationals and theStates. Our DVA Entitlements Advocate has someinteresting DVA points including those entitled toSFDA.We have another classic story from letters homefrom Harry Bell (2/9 th Cdo Sqn) during WW2 as well asanother one from our M Special man, Jim Burrowes onone of the Last Coders, Dixie Lee. Part 3 of 8 MenDropped from the Sky and an extract from ‘Kill TheMajor’ by Paul Malone on ‘Chasing Down The FajinoCoy’ at the end of WW2. Some interesting articles onService Dogs in Australia, Germany’s Kommandos theKSK and other interesting articles submitted by ourmembers.AVAILABLE TO ALL ACA MEMBERSUnfortunately, since our last magazine we have losttwo of our WW2 members Berny Crutchfield (2/6 th CdoSqn) and Moss Berryman (Z Special Unit) and thesecond OC of 2 Cdo Coy John Hutcheson. October –December has also seen the loss of 2 Commandos KIA,3 Killed in Training and 2 who had died during theirservice. May they forever Rest In Peace and have fairwinds and blue skies.
