Theseclinical and informational supportsprovide direct care to victimsand offer a new way forcommunity members to receiveclinical care.“As COVID has impacted theenvironmental safety and recoveryof our community members,these clinical resources allow forvictims to receive the services inreal time, in person, and in a confidentialsetting,” says JenniferLevine, Executive Director andco-founder of The SAFE Coalition.“We are so thankful for thispartnership and for the federalprograms that are allowing us todo this work completely free ofcharge.”Features and benefits include• Sexual Assault Counselor – inperson Friday 9 a.m.-5 p.m.,free of charge, also provideslegal advocacy• Children Impacted by Substances– ongoing, in-personFriday 9 a.m.-5 p.m., free ofcharge• Resource for services – QRcode given on business cardwith no language for discreteness,once scanned on a smartphone additional resourcespop upCOLDWELL BANKER REALTY“The SAFE coalition will providesubstance use training forWayside, and then Wayside willprovide clinical care in the formof therapists at the SAFE officesto survivors of domestic violence,sexual assault and to childrenimpacted by substance use,” saysLevine.Levine says the SAFE Coalitionroutinely encounters theissue of domestic violence andsexual abuse “about three tofour times a week. While SAFEstarted out of a need for substanceuse support, as we’vegrown, we’ve realized how intertwineddomestic abuse andsexual assault were.”According to Michelle Palladini,of the Norfolk PoliceDepartment, who is a school resourceofficer, mindfulness practitioner,developer of the L.E.A.Pprogram, and member of theS.A.F.E. It will help survivorsof these types of crimes getconfidential assistance for FREE(without making multiple phonecalls) which is invaluable andreduces the stress of an alreadytraumatic event.”“At Wayside, we are ‘empoweringchildren, young adultsand families to achieve greaterindependence and emotionalwell-being,’” says Nanci Coelho(DaSilva), Wayside Program Coordinatorand Clinician. “OurWayside Trauma InterventionServices and SAFE Coalitionboth have the tag line ‘You arenot alone,’ and that is exactlyhow we want services to becarried out. The hope is, oneday, any service an individualor family seeks in the state ofMassachusetts, will be traumainformedand have resourcesreadily available for whateverchallenge they may be facing.This is an important partnershipfor moving out of our silos andhelping community partners getthe support they need and appropriatelystreamline resourcesfor individuals and their familiesaround mental health, traumaand substance use.”Palladini believes these resourcesprovide add a layer ofprotection to the community.“From a law enforcement perspective,Palladini says, “I believethat when we look at the rootcauses of substance abuse, andancillary crimes that sometimesensue, it is most often determinedthat the person has experiencedsome type of trauma in theirlife.
