A message from JannineLooking forward to a betterroad ahead.As I’m reflecting on all that we’veexperienced throughout 2020, this hasbeen a particularly tough year, not just forFrontier Services but for our entire nation.And in remote Australia, the effects ofwhat we’ve all experienced have been felteven more keenly.We heard stories of farmers havingto move their children to new schoolsbecause of border closures, childrenliving in remote areas losing out on whatlittle socialisation they have and farmersstruggling to sell produce and livestockbecause of closures in internationalmarkets and in some cases even closuresof domestic processing.Through it all, I’ve been blown away bythe generosity in our communities. Oncewe were able to begin sending OutbackLinks volunteers out to farmers again, wewere surprised and delighted with offersof assistance. And while we found that ourvolunteers have been incredibly generouswith their offers of assistance, doing ourrole has become increasingly complex.In this issue you’ll read about one of ourmost recent projects, led by our ParkinSturt Remote Area Bush Chaplain, Sunny.You’ll also find out more about howour Bush Chaplains have adapted theirministries to continue to serve remotecommunities through the pandemic.There’s no doubt that people living inRemote Australia have been hit withan incredibly tough year. Facing theonslaught of natural disasters andthen trying to recover in the midst of apandemic, it’s been far from easy. But I’mpraying that 2021 brings with it a senseof optimism and hope.
