14 GLENN EVANS Assistant Coach Coach Glenn Evans, the pioneer of Centenary’s soccer program, stepped down 12 years ago as head coach of the Gents and Ladies soccer programs. He then focused his attention on serving as the assistant to then-coach Jed Jones for the Ladies soccer team, and now works with Wooten. He posted a 161-105-3 (.604) record in 14 seasons as the head coach of the Gents soccer program and a 66-25-3 (.725) record in five seasons as the Ladies head coach. Evans guided the Gents program from its inception through 1978, before returning at the start of the 1983 campaign. During his tenure, the Gents posted nine consecutive winning seasons (1983-91), including three straight Trans America Athletic Conference Championships. For his and the team’s efforts, he was named TAAC Coach of the Year in 1983, 1988, 1989, and 1990 as well as receiving that honor for his direction of the Ladies program in 1994. The Herkimer, New York, native earned a B.S. in Health & Physical Education from Centenary in 1969. He received a master’s degree in education from the University of Georgia in 1970. Evans recently retired as the Superintendant of Athletics for Shreveport Parks and Recreation and is entering his second year as Centenary’s Director of Academic Support. Evans also served as Interim A.D. from Oct. 2006 through July 2007. He and his wife, Karen, have four sons: Chad, Scott, Trey, and Brian. COACHES ASHLEY CALDAROLA StudentAssistant Coach Ashley Caldarola will begin her second season as a student assistant under head coach Chase Wooten. She redshirted as a freshman in 2005, and in 2006 played in 15 matches. The San Antonio, Texas, native scored one goal and gave an assist. Her lone goal in 2006 was the match winner against Arkansas State on Sept. 17. Caldarola played her final season with a heart condition, and the medical staff at Centenary decided to end her soccer career. She has since taken over the head coaching duties at North Caddo High School, while also assisting with the Ladies program. Caldarola plans on graduating from Centenary in 2009 with a degree in business, with an emphasis in finance. She also plans on continuing her coaching career on the prep level. Had 18 shots, while also putting away a match winning goal against Tennessee-Martin (Aug. 26) and Nicholls State (Oct. 23). High School: Earned all-district honors twice helping the Poteet Pirates to a state regionals apearance ... Named team MVP as a junior and senior and offensive MVP as a sophomore and junior ...
