Our highlights this year include:Launched and chaired the Housing andEmployment Taskforce• A national body encompassing tradebodies in housing, employmentservices, the DWP and MHCLG andleading experts in learning, skills, youngpeople and Government.• Taken together, the Taskforcecomprises leaders who representthousands of organisations deliveringemployment support, adult learningand skills and support and training foryoung peopleCommenting on the importance of the taskforce,former Head of the Civil Service Lord Kerslake said:It is vital that social housing tenants are not leftwhen the UK emerges from COVID-19, we allemerge together. This taskforce will play a criticalrole in ensuring that social housing landlords,government and policy makers have ‘one mind,one voice’ in the response to COVID-19.Led the national Opportunity Guaranteecampaign that prompted the government to:• Commit a £3 billion green investmentpackage supporting 140,000 job• Invest nearly £900m to double thenumber of work coaches in Jobcentresto 27,000• Launch the £2bn Kickstart Scheme,creating hundreds of thousands of workplacements for young peopleLaunched the APPG on Housing and Social Mobility and facilitated a nationalAPPG Inquiry examining the barriers working people in social housing facein securing employment and in-work progress• Received written and oral evidence submissions from more than 60organisations and individuals• Held 11 formal evidencesessions including atenant and residentpanel• Successfully launchedan APPG inquiry reportthrough a web event withnearly 300 registeredattendees.10
