“This product was generated as one of several market exploration projects for the
APRAMO brand. Basically, you create the concepts to show at the Cologne fair in
Germany and understand the interest generated. At the same time, it allows to refresh
the portfolio of the company and helps define new strategic horizons, reinforcing the
concept of portability and mobility of infants.
The concept was innovative. The idea started with making a portable aluminum chair
with a practical, utilitarian and direct language. The brand aspired to generate a new
conceptual category, “portable high chair” (travel high chair), smaller than the traditional
chairs that are marketed in this category.
Initially, the chair had to fulfill the function of a booster (an adaptation chair that is used
on a dining chair) and with adjustable heights that met the safety standards required
for the European and Australian market. Subsequently, the client requested to adapt
the product to the American regulations, having to substantially change the design, and
even dispensing with some of the initial functions. The chair has an unlocking mechanism
under the seat that allows you to safely fold and unfold the entire aluminum structure
that supports both the legs and the backrest. The fabric backing reduces weight and
facilitates washing.
Multiple tests were carried out on the prototypes, both in the studio and in the manufacturers’
laboratories, to test the stability and other safety conditions prior to production.
It was a notable advantage to develop it in a location with access to manufacturing,
prototyping workshops and testing laboratories.
It was a challenge to develop this project. A complex task that undoubtedly recalls the
importance of a coherent approach in the briefing, project management, commercial
scope and, above all, decision-making.”
