2THE HONORS COLLEGELEADERSHIPDonna H. Oliver, Ph.D.Provost & Senior VP For Academic AffairsDonna H. Oliver, Ph.D. joined the College in August2018 as Provost & Senior Vice President of AcademicAffairs. Oliver serves dually as the College’s chiefoperating and chief academic officer, providingintellectual leadership to create, advance, andimplement the academic mission of the Collegeand oversee its academic programs, a wide rangeof faculty matters, and student academic affairs.Oliver is charged with providing innovative stratagems and vision to the Collegecommunity towards building a strategic academic direction under a new resourcemodel, balancing the excellence of individual academic departments with a strongcommitment to interdisciplinary endeavors and collaboration. Prior to joining theCollege, Oliver made history as the first African-American woman to ever lead apublic university in the state of Mississippi when she was appointed President ofMississippi Valley State University in 2009.Oliver earned a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Teaching from the University of North Carolinaat Greensboro, a M.S. in Educational Administration from North Carolina A&T StateUniversity, a M.Ed. in Biology and Curriculum and Instruction from the University ofNorth Carolina at Greensboro, and an A.B. in Biology from Elon College. She holdsthree Executive Leadership Certificates: A New Presidents Academy Certificate fromthe American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU); an Institute forEducational Management (IEM) Certificate from the Harvard University GraduateSchool of Education; and a Management Certificate from the the Bryan School ofBusiness at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
3Mr. Christian BowersHonors Faculty ChairMr. Christian Bowers is an Assistant Professor ofMathematics in the Mathematics and Sciencesdepartment. He teaches a wide variety of coursesincluding College Algebra, Finite Mathematics,Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Pre-Calculus,Business Calculus, Calculus, Set Theory and Logic,Numerical Analysis, and Probability. His researchinterests are in the field of probability. He holds a Master’s Degree in MathematicalSciences with a concentration in Statistics from the University of North Florida.Honors College Faculty and StaffThis program wouldn’t be successful without the diligent work, tireless effort, andconsistent commitment of our Honors College Faculty and Staff.
