A message from your Shropshire Councillor

Claire Wild

If there has been one good thing to come out of the Covid-19 Pandemic it is

confirmation of just how important communities are. We stood on doorsteps

and clapped for carers and people got involved in Covid Response teams

helping those who were in need and the community Facebook page came into

it’s own and proved that social media can be such a positive tool.

On this note let’s say a big community thank you

to Stephy and Sharl and their band of helpers for putting on the

scarecrow event at Halloween which, despite the torrential rain, was

enjoyed by so many families all socially distanced of course. There were

some seriously impressive scarecrows and it must have been a difficult

job for the judge, our very own High Sherriff Dean Harris from

Berrington. The raffle was also very impressive and a big thank you to all

those who donated prizes. The event raised a fabulous £720 for Breast

Cancer Research.

Despite the Community Centre not being in use the displays put up in the window for both Halloween

and Remembrance Sunday were lovely and appreciated by many. Thank you Sue, Ray and Brenda for

your work on this.

The scarecrow event did not put Stephy and Sharl off as they are now busy liaising with Santa’s Elves

to ensure that Santa makes a stopover on Christmas Eve (Page 4 for more details). Thank you so much

both. Santa’s Elves are raising money for the Neonatal unit in Stoke and they will have a donations

bucket with them as they travel around the village.

I am hoping that by the next time I write for the February and March 2021 edition of The Pump we will

be getting back to the new normal.

As always if anyone needs any help please do not hesitate to get in contact with me.

Please take care over the festive season, and stay safe.

Claire
