The Secret of Fellowship by Andrew Murray

Part of his classic Secret Series devotionals, Andrew Murray wrote this month-long devotional to emphasize the necessity of daily fellowship with God. He teaches in The Secret of Fellowship that without taking this daily time to come into His presence, feel your weakness and need, and wait upon the Lord, you cannot fully experience the joy and power of God's Holy Spirit in your daily life. Written over a period of five years, The Secret Series books contain a wealth of teaching that is based on Andrew Murray's mature and full experience in Christ. Briefly yet eloquently, Murray teaches that our lives and faith are strengthened when we persistently pursue God. The Secret of Fellowship contains one month of daily selections that emphasize the necessity of daily fellowship with God for a life full of the joy and power of the Holy Spirit.

" With my whole heart have I sought<br />

<strong>The</strong>e."-Ps. cxix. 10.<br />

N<br />

OTICE how <strong>of</strong>ten the Psalmist speaks<br />

here <strong>of</strong> the whole heart. "<strong>The</strong>y<br />

that seek Him with the whole heart "<br />

(ver. 2). "I shall observe Thy law with<br />

my whole heart " (ver. 34). " I will<br />

keep Thy precepts with my whole heart,.<br />

(ver. 69). "I cried with my whole<br />

heart" (ver. 145). In seeking God, in<br />

observing His law, in crying for His<br />

help-each time it is with the whole<br />

heart.<br />

When we want to make anything a<br />

success in worldly affairs, we put our<br />

whole heart into it. And is this not<br />

much more necessary in the service <strong>of</strong><br />

an holy God ? Is He not worthy ?<br />

Does not His great holiness, and the<br />

natural aversion <strong>of</strong> our hearts from God<br />

demand it ? <strong>The</strong> whole he.rt is needed<br />

in the service <strong>of</strong> God when we worship<br />

him in secret.<br />

And yet how little most Christians<br />

think <strong>of</strong> this. <strong>The</strong>y do not remember<br />

how necessary it is-in prayer, in reading<br />

God's Word, in striving to do His willto<br />

say continually: With my whole<br />

heart have I sought <strong>The</strong>e. Yes, when we<br />

pray, and when we try to understand<br />

God's word, and to obey His commands<br />
