EVACUATION
• Fire Control Room, Kolkata was informed about the
incident at 4.10 am. Immediate response from the fire
services was arrived at the site within 20min.
• The road leading to the hospital is narrow and
congested.
• Hospital officials abandoned patients in the ICU and
others who were immobile.
• “There was no ventilation channel for the smoke to
come out,” a Fire officer said, even as desperate
firefighters smashed the glass windows to let the
fumes out.
• 28 fire-tenders and three sky-lifts were pressed into
action and the blaze was put out late in the afternoon.
The survivors were shifted to five hospitals.
