Already a big-race winner having won the RPGTV Puppy Trophy which supported the
Derby final at Nottingham in October, Ballydoyle Razor cut a dash in the first round
here when beating Bockos Melody, who re-opposes tonight. A son of the brilliant
former stayer Fear Emoski, he is therefore a half-brother of Ireland’s Ballydoyle Valor,
an English Derby finalist. Ballydoyle Razor is owned by the Close Shave Syndicate, a
group of 11 enthusiasts put together by Richard Parkin, who will be hoping the red
jacket can work the oracle for the Yorkshire-based runner, as it did at Nottingham.
