Dear Readers,

As we head into the final weeks of 2020, I am sure many of

us will be looking forward to putting this year firmly behind us.

2020 has been a humbling year for humanity and a

challenging year for families and businesses across the

globe. This unforeseen Covid-19 pandemic has separated

loved ones, brought grief to so many and has forced small,

medium, and large business to their limits and beyond.

The oil and gas sector like many others have taken a

significant operating impact, affected by travel restrictions,

low oil prices, lower demand, production cuts as well as job

losses. But it simply amazes me to see how resilient and

adaptable the O&G sector is. My congratulations must go out

to all operators, contractors, and services companies, who

implemented their planned policy measures, quarantined crew

rotations to ensure essential workers could do their jobs and

help keep production and operations on track.

2021 will bring a new year, with new challenges - some

challenges will remain from 2020, new ones will surely present

themselves but hopefully the pandemic and associated

restrictions will start to ease.

Here at TMG Worldwide, we have had to adjust to the global

situation and for the first time in our history, we combined

both the RDCR and KDR annual events, to host our first

virtual RDCR & KDR Well Engineering Forum, on the 4th of

December.

The event saw 45 high level presentations from the region’s

leading O&G companies and saw 590 delegates “login” and

participate across the 4 presentation halls and the virtual

exhibition.

The event has generally received positive feedback, but we

must apologize to the participants who faced some technical

problems on the day. A good friend and long-term sponsor

of the event told us, “The first pancake is always lumpy!” We

will use the experience to ensure a smoother experience for

any future on-line event. My hope is that we can put the virtual

events behind us and get back to meeting face to face. With

any luck, I look forward to meeting with you all in person at

some stage next year.

I would like to thank all event sponsors, partners, and

delegates whose continued support ensures we can host the

markets largest annual gathering for the region’s drilling and

production sector. Without your support there is no event.

Moving onto this issue of ROGTEC Magazine, we have

a series of articles looking at licensing issues, from target

selection to fast tracking decision making on development

prospects. I hope you enjoy the issue, and as always, I

welcome your feedback.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all our

advertising companies who supported ROGTEC throughout

2020 and help ROGTEC Magazine maintain its position as the

region´s leading upstream magazine.

I wish all our readers, their families, and friends, the very best

for the festive period. Have a Happy New Year celebration

and a very Merry Christmas and I wish all of you all the

health, wealth, happiness, and to be Covid free, in 2021 and

beyond.
