SupportingNational-LevelActionThe NAP Global Network offers technical assistance (bothshort-term and long-term) that is closely linked to our peerlearning and knowledge work. Technical support requests areoften developed in collaboration with partner countries duringpeer learning events, and we capture lessons and good practicesfor effective NAP processes that we learn through this technicalsupport in our knowledge products.We offer:• long-term in-country NAP support programs, and• short-term assistance through our Country Support Hub.2020 FEATURE | ENGAGING THE PRIVATE SECTOR IN NAPSExciting collaborations with Viet Nam and Kenya this year onengaging the private sector in the NAP process shows how the NAPGlobal Network’s activities—on technical assistance, peer learning,and knowledge—can be a value chain for catalyzing the shift fromknowledge to action.The NAP Global Network organized a global-level Peer LearningSummit (PLS) on engaging the private sector in 2019, informed bya guidance note developed in the same year. Viet Nam’s NAP teamattended the PLS, exchanging lessons and experiences with peersfrom other countries (including Ghana and Saint Lucia, who weredeveloping NAP private sector engagement strategies with Networksupport). Following the event, Viet Nam accessed the Network’sCountry Support Hub to develop their own private sector engagementstrategy, which has been launched in 2020 alongside the approval oftheir first NAP.A team from Kenya attended the same PLS, and Faith Ngige from theKenya Private Sector Alliance says the peer exchange helped inspireher to found the Climate Information Business Network–Kenya which ismaking solid links between the private sector and the national climatepolicy planning process (see opposite page).Lessons from the peer learning event and technical support to NAPteams like Viet Nam’s has informed a Toolkit for Engaging the PrivateSector in NAPs co-authored by the UNFCCC Adaptation Committee,launched through an interactive event in June 2020. This toolkit andlessons from Ghana, Saint Lucia, and Viet Nam’s strategies are alreadyinforming Malawi’s work on developing a NAP private sector strategywith Network support.
