Shemelted into the soft warm sheets and before she couldthink about what gifts to buy the next day, she fell into amuch needed, undisturbed deep sleep.Her windows rattling against the howling wind thenext morning woke her up. Turning over, she saw that itwas nearly 10 am. She hadn’t slept that long in years! Shesat up and stretched, her chest felt lighter and her acheswere gone. Much better! Getting up, the smell of coffeefilled her nostrils, and she threw on a sweatshirt whilelooking out the window. Snow was falling and it was a3
cold, windy day. Shopping would be a challenge in thatweather.After scrambling eggs and making toast, she pouredherself some coffee and sat down to eat as she watchedthe snow pile up against her window. Realizing she stillhadn’t turned her phone on, she decided best to check it –especially since she knew her mother, Cindy, was mostlikely trying to call her. Once her phone lit up, a list oftext messages came in. One from Brandon telling heragain what a great job she did in Atlanta. One from herfriend Jess asking if she could tag along on her Christmasshopping today. A weather alert. And one from her momasking if she felt better and if she landed okay. She alsoasked if she could handle making the pies for Christmasdinner.She shot back a text to her mom first, knowing shewas probably worried by now.I’m better. Landed safely yesterday afternoon.
