Ibom, the late Air Commodore<br />

Idongesit Nkanga,<br />

(retd).<br />

The body of Nkanga, who<br />

died on December 24, 2020,<br />

was interred at his home<strong>to</strong>wn,<br />

Ikot Nya in Nsit Ibom<br />

local government after full<br />

military honours by officers<br />

and men of the <strong>Niger</strong>ian Air<br />

Force (NAF).<br />

In his condolence message,<br />

Babangida, who was<br />

represented by Brigadier-<br />

General Anthony Etukudoh<br />

(retd) described Nkanga as<br />

one of the best military officers<br />

the country had ever<br />

produced and who fought<br />

for the unity of <strong>Niger</strong>ia.<br />

Babangida said, ‘’He was<br />

my former student. One of<br />

the best military officers<br />

<strong>Niger</strong>ia has ever produced.<br />

after revalidating<br />

his membership of the<br />

party at Katuzu ward in<br />

exercise was conceived <strong>to</strong><br />

further democratize the<br />

party ahead of the 2023<br />

general elections and also<br />

reposition the APC <strong>to</strong> dominate<br />

it should be their decision.<br />

farmers/herdsmen clash in Ogun<br />

herdsmen and farmers in Yewa area of the state that<br />

led <strong>to</strong> the loss of a life and destruction of properties.<br />

According <strong>to</strong> his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin,<br />

Abiodun also set up a Special Task Force that will maintain<br />

presence in all areas of the state prone <strong>to</strong> herders/<br />

farmers conflict <strong>to</strong> maintain peace and quickly respond <strong>to</strong><br />

any form of violence or crimes.<br />

“The government is immediately setting up a joint security<br />

patrol team / task force involving all security agencies<br />

in the state <strong>to</strong> not only deal with the situation, but <strong>to</strong> also<br />

nip in the bud any threat <strong>to</strong> violence or criminality”, the<br />

governor was quoted as saying, adding that “our first priority<br />

in Ogun State is the safety of lives and properties of<br />

everyone, and we will not compromise on that”<br />

Abiodun, who gave the order in Abeokuta at the end of<br />

the state Security Council meeting, also directed that those<br />

behind the recent violence in Eggua in Yewa North area<br />

local government area of the State should be brought <strong>to</strong><br />

justice.<br />

Marafa moves <strong>to</strong> end Zamfara APC crisis<br />

*Meets with critical stakeholders in Kaduna<br />

he end may be in sight for the crisis in Zamfara State<br />

Tchapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) as the Sena<strong>to</strong>r<br />

Kabiru Marafa faction would meet in Kaduna <strong>to</strong> finalize<br />

moves of reconciling with the Abdulaziz Yari faction.<br />

This development followed the meeting convened by the<br />

Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of<br />

the APC in Abuja, which virtually all the APC stakeholders in<br />

Zamfara attended.<br />

Marafa,who addressed hundreds of his supporters, yesterday<br />

on Saturday in Kaduna, said their resolve <strong>to</strong> reconcile was<br />

in the general interest of Zamfara.<br />

He said: “We are meeting with critical stakeholders of our<br />

faction (APC Mai Jama’a, which literally means APC of the<br />

grassroots) <strong>to</strong>day in Kaduna.”<br />

“You will recall that the Chairman of the caretaker committee<br />

of our party, His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni of<br />

Yobe State, had on Monday in Abuja, met with me and other<br />

stakeholders of our party <strong>from</strong> Zamfara State <strong>to</strong> address the<br />

lingering crisis in our state chapter.<br />

“At the meeting, we all agreed and reasoned <strong>to</strong> come <strong>to</strong>gether<br />

and work for the benefit of our people. The party is ours and<br />

we have worked and laboured for its growth. “<br />

“In fulfillment of that pledge, we have convened this meeting<br />

with all the critical stakeholders of our faction, <strong>from</strong> all the<br />

14 local government areas of Zamfara State <strong>to</strong> actualise the<br />

reconciliation move initiated by the party in Abuja.”
