What's On Mission - March/April 2021

WHAT IS FVYS?
The Fraser Valley Youth Society (FVYS) is a not for profit
society located in the Fraser Valley since 2000. We have
been providing opportunities for personal growth and
leadership through our workshops, programs and
community connections since 2000. We have gone from a
group of volunteers running a weekly LGBTQ2+ drop-in
group in Abbotsford to a Board of Directors, staff and
dedicated volunteers running weekly drop-in groups in
Abbotsford, Mission and Chilliwack.
WHAT PROGRAMS DO YOU OFFER?
Currently, we are offering a zoom drop-in meeting on
Wednesday evenings beginning at 6PM. We are hoping to
resume in-person meetings as soon as COVID-19 restrictions
are lifted. We also offer Education and Awareness
programming for organizations looking for inclusivity
training. Our main workshop that we offer is Terminologies,
Risk Factors and Best Practices in Supporting LGBTQ2S+
Youth

WHAT PLANS DO YOU HAVE FOR 2021?
Our Focus this year is to continue our online programming,
through virtual drop-ins, online forums and fundraising
efforts, including Fraser Valley Pride. As soon as it is safe to
do so, we will reopen our in person drop-ins.

HOW CAN WE HELP FVYS?
Support comes in a number of different forms for us. First
and foremost, make it your mission to support and advocate
for LGBTQ2S+, marginalized and at-risk youth; educate
yourself in best practices in supporting LGBTQ2S+ youth; and
attend or support our fundraising efforts, including FV Pride.
Lastly, donate to our cause. We are a small registered charity
always accepting donations that go directly toward program
