GOOD WRITING ON SIMPLE THINGS
Dear Compass,
I write to congratulate Bela Brown for her beautifully
written piece on the Good-Natured Grenada Fly
Catcher in the February issue. In these coronavirus
times, a good piece of writing on simple things livens
up the day and gives the image of a life beyond
lockdown when we can be free to enjoy Mother
Nature again.
Your review on the progress and plans of our Bequia
Museum should generate more enthusiasm. I invite
your sailors to tell us where else is there a museum
planned for access by boat.

Dear Caribbean Compass,
The Compass is for the birds these days — kudos
again to Bela Brown for her article in the January
issue on the stylish-looking Loud-Mouthed Yellow-
Bellied Elaenia. (I wonder if it might be related to the
One-Eyed, One-Horned Flying Purple People Eater!)
Cheers,

Marine
Insurance
The insurance business has changed.
No longer can brokers talk of low rates.
Rather, the honest broker can only say,
“I’ll do my best to minimize your increase!”
There is good insurance, there is cheap
insurance, but there is no good cheap
insurance. You never know how good
your insurance is until you have a claim.
My claims settlement record
cannot be matched.
I have been connected with the marine insurance
business for 47 years. I have developed a rapport
with brokers and underwriters at Lloyds and am
able to introduce boat owners to specialist brokers
in the Lloyds market.
