2000s<br />

Katey Schultz ’01, recently a<br />

featured speaker in the Virtual<br />

<strong>Whitman</strong> series, received two<br />

further major honors for her<br />

novel “Still Come Home”: Book<br />

of the Year in Indie Fiction<br />

category from the Chicago<br />

Writers Association; and the Sir<br />

Walter Raleigh Award from the<br />

Historical Book Club of North<br />

Carolina. The latter award is<br />

presented in recognition of the<br />

most significant work of original<br />

fiction published in the past<br />

year by a North Carolina author.<br />

Scott Skinner-Thompson<br />

’05 has published “Privacy<br />

at the Margins” (Cambridge<br />

University Press), a book<br />

highlighting why privacy<br />

is of acute importance<br />

for marginalized groups.<br />

Skinner-Thompson is an<br />

associate professor at the<br />

University of Colorado<br />

Boulder Law School,<br />

where he researches<br />

constitutional law, civil<br />

rights and privacy law,<br />

with a particular focus on<br />

LGBTQ and HIV issues.<br />

2010s<br />

Andy Jobanek ’10 was awarded<br />

the Excellence in Communications<br />

Award for the 2019 Cross Country<br />

Season, Division I, by the U.S.<br />

Track & Field and Cross Country<br />

Association. Jobanek is assistant<br />

media relations director at<br />

Portland State University.<br />

Grace Toledo Finch ’06<br />

was promoted to the senior<br />

leadership team as director<br />

of development at Annie<br />

Wright Schools in Tacoma,<br />

Washington. She started as<br />

director of philanthropy in<br />

2016. Finch is responsible<br />

for all aspects of the schools’<br />

fundraising programs.<br />
