TRAVELS

WITH LULU

by Lulu Von Poodle

Well we survived the

storm of the century, but

our house didn’t do so well. Our electricity went out

Sunday and so did the heat. It was no fun.

Mom bundled us up and we took off for an Air B & B where we

stayed for the next week. It was so exciting, a vacation complete

with hot chocolate, somemores and a fireplace. We even had 5

star chili delivered by our neighbor. It was way cool. Everyone

else seemed to be in the same boat too, but some fared better

than others depending on locales. Trinity Terrace lost power for

2 or 3 days and had only a few generators, “for emergencies only

they said”. It seems to me a group of octogenarians freezing in

their condos constitutes an emergency, but who knows. Finally

the sun came back late week and the pipes thawed and it was

April showers indoors and outside as tons of pipes burst all over

town. What a sight it was to behold. Mom suspecting pipe issues

loomed had our neighbor Danny turn the water meter off. So,

when we returned home on the heels of the furnace repair man

she asked him to turn the water back on again. Well you guessed

it pipes blew and water came cascading down landing right on her

head and everywhere else. Danny made a run for the water meter,

turning it off and the two of them just stood there laughing like

fools. Thank God for Kenny’s plumbing they sent 2 really nice guys

over within the hour and fixed things up except for the water line

to our washing machine. We are now in line for another visit from

the plumber, sheet rockers, painter’s carpet guys’, foundation men,

insurance adjusters and God knows who else….what a party! Worst

part of this entire adventure so far was the trip to the Laundromat

a few days ago. It was nasty, so much so mom shipped our things

out Ft Worth Laundry and the W & O cleaners by Pearl Snaps.

Life! In closing we would like to thank, Barbie Towson, Danny and

Ann Abshire and Kenny’s Plumbing for their help during this crazy

time and Sean over at Trader Joes’ who kept us in wine and clam

chowder. --Love Maxie Lulu & Sailor

Tatara Siegel is our exciting featured artist. Her work consists of

mixed media sculpture, focusing mostly in glass and ceramic. The

work consists of levels of different narratives between the viewers

perception, the materials being utilized and the stage in which the

work is placed.
