A NEWS DIGEST OF

TUGGERAH LAKES ART SOCIETY

THE PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Dear Members,

Hugely successful, were the

sentiments Emma McBride MP used

to describe our Women in Art Expo

and Artisan’s Markets. She added

that she had visited the Expo on the

Saturday and enjoyed it so much, that

she brought her Mum back on

Sunday. My sincere thanks to Sam

Blanks for her efficient organisation of

the Exhibition, and Troy Flight for

coordinating the Artisan’s Markets,

but also for the multitude of helpers

who worked tirelessly, for without

them the event would not have been

‘hugely successful’. Forgive me for

not naming each and every one of

you.

And then came the rains! Our

Members’ Meeting in March had to be

cancelled due to the floods. We had

so much to share, which we will carry

over to the meeting on the 22nd

April’21. Sam Blanks will be our

guest presenter. There will be an

update on our 2021 Fab Fakes,

Corinne Adams will tell us about

some exciting new workshops she

has organised. We will have an

auction of quality art materials that

have been donated to us by a very

valued TLAS member, (who is

downsizing), to raise funds so we

don’t have to up our GT Workshop

fees.

More good news! We’ve been

contacted by the producers of ‘Put

Some Colour in Your Life’ TV show,

they would like to come and film a

series with our TLAS members.

Watch this space!

Take care,

Rasheeda

ABOUT ‘THE WASH’

‘The Wash’ newsletter is a simplified

version of the regular TLAS newsletter. It

still informs members of important

society news but in a concise form.

Most TLAS information (including

downloads) can also be found in more

detail on the TLAS Facebook Page and

the www.tlas.org.au website. It’s my

hope that a larger version newsletter,

with regular articles, will happen as a

quarterly publication.

TLAS ‘GOOD TIMES’ WORKSHOPS

Corinne Adams

Hi all, I hope everyone has dried out after all

that rain, I for one hope to not see any more for

a while.

As many were flooded in their homes when the

last meeting was due we didn’t have the

opportunity to meet our guest presenter

Claudia Paddison of ‘Claudia’s Creations’,

who is a local resin artist. I am hoping Claudia

will come along to our next meeting and show

us some of her fascinating pieces of ‘resin art’.

Claudia conducts her workshops from her

home in Chittaway Point and is presenting

classes for us, one of which will be held on

April 25 th , and she is giving back $10 to TLAS

from every person booking in, so the more

places we book the more we earn for TLAS! I

have another of her workshops ready to fill on

Saturday May 8 th from 10am to midday with all

materials supplied including a 30x40cm canvas

for $120. I’m sure you will agree this is a very

reasonable price. Will let you know how our first

workshop with Claudia goes, I think we will

have some really great messy fun - glad it’s at

Claudia’s place!

Unfortunately due to ill health Peter Tassell’s

Plein Air workshop on March 20th had to be

cancelled, I am hoping we will be able to book

him in again for another workshop later in the

year. Those members who have paid for this

workshop will have their money refunded.

The long awaited workshop by Scott Denholm,

happened last Saturday to a fully booked class,

(see the photos on the back page). As you may

recall Scott was due to present his workshop

for us in April 2020 but as he hails from

Queensland he’s been unable to cross the

border due to Covid 19 restrictions. The day

went extremely well, learning new techniques

with his amazing acrylic abstracts.

On May 15 th Silvana Natoli will present a Gold

Leaf mixed media workshop where she will

show us how to apply the gold leaf to a variety

of surfaces to create a beautiful piece of art. If

you are looking for something a little different,

then this workshop is for you and I have a

couple of places left, so get in quick.

My very first Art teacher Christine Ireland will

show us ala prima oils on June 12 th where

we’ll paint her little Blue Wren. (continues

floral arrangement.

Our successful WIA co-ordinator Sam Blanks

has agreed to have a workshop for us on

September 11 th . More details and workshops in

the next newsletter.

Book a workshop and come along for all day

tea, coffee, biscuits & cake (don’t forget to bring

your lunch) and not only gain some expert art

tuition but meet old & new friends and enjoy a

great day.

Our day runs from 9.30am to 3pm and is only

$20 for members $25 for non members (non

refundable).

I would like to acknowledge the timely donation

of $250 dollars form local member Emma

McBride, as together with monies raised from

our WIA raffle has made it possible to pay for

tutors for these last 2 workshops. I would also

like to thank all of those who donated items for

the raffle. We’re still looking for donors and or

sponsors so we can book more tutors for our

workshops.

Cheers for now, Corinne

THE EXTRA PAGE

SCOTT DENHOLM’S WORKSHOP

L to R: Scott’s ‘Good Times Workshop’ was fully booked - mostly from the original booking over 12 months ago. Scott

explained his technique of multiple layers and ‘scrubbing’ to reveal some of the previous layer. An eco-friendly artist,

Scott uses Hydrocryl organic paints exclusively. Another technique was the use of the roller. The artwork was created in

computer (with Photoshop) - the ‘organic’ artwork can take days to complete, hopefully in time for a showing at the next

Members’ Meeting on 22nd April.
