Meredith Houghton Joins SVT<br />
<strong>November</strong> at the <strong>Holliston</strong><br />
Public Library<br />
Staff<br />
Sudbury Valley Trustees<br />
(SVT) is pleased to welcome<br />
Meredith Houghton as its new<br />
Land Protection Specialist. Ms.<br />
Houghton will play a lead role in<br />
identifying area landowners who<br />
are interested in conserving their<br />
property and then working with<br />
them to develop an appropriate<br />
conservation plan.<br />
SVT is a nonprofit land trust<br />
that protects natural areas and<br />
farmland in the region around<br />
the Sudbury, Assabet, and Concord<br />
Rivers. The organization,<br />
which has 2,900 members, has<br />
helped to protect more than<br />
8,000 acres of land since its<br />
founding in 1953, and it has a<br />
goal of protecting 12,000 more<br />
by 2050.<br />
Previously, Ms. Houghton has<br />
worked as an environmental consultant<br />
with several organizations,<br />
including Vanasse Hangen Brustlin<br />
in Watertown, and has been<br />
involved in regional environmental<br />
planning efforts in Massachusetts<br />
and New Hampshire with<br />
the Ipswich River Watershed<br />
Association and the Rockingham<br />
Planning Commission, respectively.<br />
She also spent three years<br />
as an environmental scientist at<br />
Apex Companies in Boston. She<br />
holds a master’s degree in Urban<br />
and Environmental Policy and<br />
Planning from Tufts University.<br />
