Dear Rubio Partner,
It is a great honour to write, as CEO of Rubio Monocoat, an introduction in the fifth edition of
our Reference Book. Our world has been challenged this year and by the time you open this book,
I hope you have been safe and COVID-19 is history for you and your family.
Despite all the changes around us, wood is here to stay! At Rubio we are passionate about wood,
just like you. Every day we aim at developing unique products that empower you to protect,
enhance and maintain the natural beauty of wood. We are thankful and proud to have gained
the trust of so many wood professionals, architects, manufacturers and wood lovers all around the
world, even during these special times.
The projects in this book are a result of the creativity of our customers, partners and Rubio family
members. Rubio not only wants to support you, we want to inspire and guide you in each step to
enable you to create your personal and perfect wood project. Each of these projects are created
by unique people, who are wood-proud, and Rubio is honored to be part of their inspiration and
satisfaction.
Last but not least, I personally feel like I’m part of a family. A growing team of passionate people
who care about family values, respecting nature and the natural elements for wood. A family that
cares for each other and about protecting our planet for future generations.

This beautiful house in Western Latvia definitely deserves a spot on our ‘houses of our dreams’ list. From
the first site visit, the owners knew that nature was going to play a major role in the design of their
home. They opted for a sleek look for both the exterior and the interior of the house. They were able
to add a warm feel to the sleek look thanks to our wide colour range of natural wood tones. Which, as
you can see, turned out to be a successful combination.
For the owners it was clear: the natural wood tones had to be the binding factor in every room and
ultimately ensure unity. To achieve this, almost all furniture in the house was finished with Rubio
Monocoat Oil Plus 2C, colour Smoke 5%. From the kitchen furniture to the bedroom and bathroom
furniture, all the wood got a Rubio Monocoat look.
In order to respect the natural look of the wood, they wanted to make use of light sources,
both natural and artificial. The wooden ceiling was an important factor to consider during
this exercise. The owners wanted to create a clear contrast with the light wood colour of
the furniture and decided to go for a dark wood tone. The ceiling was then treated with our
Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C, colour Charcoal.
Rubio Monocoat Hybrid Wood Protector, colour Charcoal, was used for both the façade and the terrace.
Throughout the day, this dark colour creates different reflections and adds a fourth dimension to the
striking façade. So there is always a certain, but always different, atmosphere when you look at the
house.

Buddha-Bar restaurant chose to use Rubio Monocoat products for the installation and finishing of
the floor. In the first place, our parquet adhesive Rubio EasyBond, was used to install the wooden
floor. Rubio EasyBond is universally applicable for nearly all types of wood and situations, contains no
plasticizers and is hard elastic.
Then they decided to treat the wood with Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C, colour Ice Brown. This colour
creates the warm and cozy appearance of the restaurant. Finally, they also used Rubio Monocoat
Universal Maintenance Oil, colour Pure. The oil is ideal for high traffic areas that require extra protection
such as public areas, restaurants, offices, hotels, ...
Buddha-Bar restaurant chose our Rubio Monocoat products thanks to Magic Floor. Magic Floor was
able to convince them of the quality of our products and assured them that Rubio Monocoat always
meets the customer’s wishes. No sooner said than done: the result is amazing!

A cup of coffee tastes so much better when you can enjoy it in a modern and cozy interior. Coffee bar
Oriunda in Lima (Peru) got the memo and turned their coffee bar into a trendy meeting place. In their
wide assortment of different types of coffee, the quality of the Peruvian coffee is central. Coffee lover or
not, at Oriunda there’s something for everyone’s taste!
The coffee experience is a priority at Oriunda, from the moment you walk in until you have your favorite
coffee in your hand. They’ve given a lot of thought to the lay-out and furnishing of the interior as they
used natural elements such as wood and green accents.
Kárstico Arquitectos designed and built this trendy coffee bar. He chose to finish the bar with huayruro
wood that was first treated with Rubio Monocoat Hybrid Wood Protector, colour Chocolate and then with
Rubio Monocoat Universal Maintenance Oil, colour Pure. The walls and benches are made of phenolic
plywood and finished with Rubio Monocoat Hybrid Wood Protector, colour Chocolate.
The combination of the wood with the green accents ensures that the natural elements are beautifully
emphasized. The result is a beautiful coffee bar that is worth a visit!

Private home Waregem • Belgium
This private home in Waregem underwent a real transformation: from an old house to a modern one
with a sleek look and feel. The aim was to make the best possible use of all the space in the house.
In order to create the sleek look, the owners worked with two colour accents: white and black. They
wanted a natural touch in their interior to which the colour accents needed to blend in smoothly.
So what better material to use for this project than wood? They chose a light colour for the floor,
namely Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C, colour Smoke 5%. To create a natural contrast, Rubio Monocoat
Oil Plus 2C, colour Charcoal, was used for the cabinets.
They installed a wooden fence around the house, which, thanks to the right colour, shows up very well
in the garden. Also outdoors colour accents can make the garden feel more like an extension of the
living room. That is why the wooden planter got the same colour as the fence, with a beautiful result.
The owners opted for a pre-treatment with Rubio Monocoat Sunprimer HWP, colour Black and as wood
protection they used our Rubio Monocoat Hybrid Wood Protector, colour Black. The combination of these
two products results in the intense black colouring.
